EN-15038: European Quality Standard for Translation Services
The aim of European Standard 15038, implemented in 2006, is to establish and define the requirements for the provision of quality services by translation service providers.
It encompasses all stages of the translation process, with quality control and the traceability of its evolution being the main aspects of the Standard, which offers both Translation Service Providers and their clients a description and definition of the entire service. At the same time, it is designed to provide Translation Service Providers with a set of procedures and requirements to meet market needs, which include human and technical resources, quality and project management, the contractual framework, service procedures, added value services, terms and definitions.

Translation Service Providers that meet the Standard’s requirements may be eligible for the expected Certification and, since Tecnilíngua acts in compliance with these requirements, it aims to be a Certified Translation Service Provider.
The EN 15038 Standard was drawn up by the Technical Committee BT/TF 138, established by CEN, the European Committee for Standardization. The EUATC (European Union of Associations of Translation Companies) and APET (Associação Portuguesa de Empresas de Tradução), of which Tecnilíngua is a member, were part of the group of associations which helped in establishing this Standard.
