Children's Day

Children's Day was first established in the decade of 1950. Portugal, like many countries, adopted June 1st as the date to celebrate this day. In a martyred scenario like the one at the time, the WIDF and the UN wanted to defend children, and so the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was born, on 20th November 1959. However, many of the principles of this declaration are still unfulfilled today. Unicef has revealed that there are more than 30 million children in extreme difficulties, who, nowadays, don’t have access to the most basic care - love, health, and safety.

Translation makes it possible for all countries in the world to have access to this declaration in their own language, thus enabling the conventions on children's rights to be understood and enforceable.

The right to affection, food, medical care, free education, protection from exploitation, and to grow up in a climate of peace and fraternity has been recognized for all children, regardless of race or religion. Poverty, cases of abuse, neglect and mistreatment, school dropout, and difficulties in accessing health care are examples of situations that are still experienced by children in these days. Faced with these circumstances, there were and are several children who opposed this situation and struggled for the difference. Some with the purpose of escaping, others with the aim of actually being able to revolutionize the mentality of their country, of the world. Names such as Malala Yousafzai, Greta Thunberg, Jack Andraka, and Anne Frank have been known due to their suffering or their initiative for change. In addition to these personalities, countless children fight every day for the achievement of the basic rights. So, although not all countries celebrate it in the same day, Children’s Day has the noblest of goals: to promote the well-being of Children, wherever they may be, every day.

TECNILÍNGUA WISHES ALL THE CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD A PRESENT AND A FUTURE IN WHICH THEY ARE FULFILLED AND HAPPY!
